Paris is Also This: Beauty, Peace, Poetry, Brotherly and Sisterly and Unisex Love

In memory of the policeman killed and others wounded last night on the Champs-Elysees…

Terror and demagoguery will not undo Paris, will not change Paris or Parisians…

Manipulation and engineering of these tragic events by foreign governments will not work.

Appropriation of these events will not profit the extremists now seeking the highest office in the land.

Paris is also this: beauty, peace, poetry, brotherly and sisterly and unisex love, culture, hope, freedom and all the things terrorists and extremist demagogues domestic and foreign despise… and to hell with all of them, from Putin and Trump down to Le Pen, Melanchon and Fillon–the second, and all of the latter, stooges of the Kremlin and its bloody-minded campaign to take away our freedoms.

Barges glimpsed from the Pont des Arts

One of my fave cafes: attitude, lousy coffee, outrageous prices but lots of Parisian atmosphere

Lionizing the hideously wonderful fountain at Place St-Sulpice

Poetry in the streets: Rimbaud gets a tall wall in the handsome historic Rue Ferou for his Drunken Boat

In the pink, a parterre in the Luxembourg Garden, perfect in April (in Paris)

Silenus in bacchic revelry mode, frolicking in the Luxembourg Garden, drunk with sunshine and beauty

Aspiring to inspire… catalpas in bloom near the Seine and the spire of Notre Dame Cathedral
